Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has pledged to allocate portions of land in satellite towns to genuine farmers as part of efforts to boost agricultural production and address the growing concern of food insecurity.

Wike made the commitment on Monday in Abuja during the commissioning of a newly constructed rural road linking A2 Junction (Abuja-Lokoja Expressway) to Pai community in the Kwali Area Council.

Highlighting the importance of the road project, the minister noted that the development had opened previously isolated communities to new economic opportunities, especially in agriculture.

“Look at the vast area of land and we are talking about food insecurity.

“With these vast lands, those of you who want to be farmers, real farmers, we are willing to pay compensation to communities and give you farmlands to cultivate,” he said.

He reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to supporting farmers and unlocking the agricultural potential of rural areas across the territory.
